Retracing of the Beings
Video, 9’36’’
All living things are never dead until they are forgotten. As we spend more time in the online world, however, we leave increasingly more digital traces behind – can these be seen as an entity in themselves? Even when our physical universe stops, our life carries on through traces left in laptops, phones, cloud storage and data centres.
Through a speculative video work, I ponder this subject through experimental narratives and visuals. Scattered fragments of leftover data – social media posts, messages, photographs – are shown through hypnotic and digitally fragmented images, with a voiceover that reflects on how these traces can be understood as an echo of previous acts and thoughts from our multiple virtual identities.
