Sensory Translation (Sensoria)

UV Printing / Image Research / Texture Experiment

Merleau-Ponty said we touch the sun and the stars through vision.

‘The eyes can touch.’

How much are we aware of the everyday tactile relationship between our body and the environments? What we can tell more about touch with images?

By zooming in specific parts of things while focusing the interaction with the hand, Jihyun Hong created images to elaborate the feeling of touch and articulate sensory experiences. She invites the viewers to the journey of hands which explore peripheral  surroundings such as ready-made objects and mass-produced furnitures. From this image-telling, we can feel the story and our tactile senses can be stimulated.

This project includes the experiments of building layers on the printing surface and engrave spatial depth on the texture in terms of raising haptic memory.
